I Miss You, My Love Poem #1:

GaLambos Á. István: Lake Balaton in Autumn

I sit alone upon the shore, the world around a quiet score,
Only the water sings a tune by the pier’s wooden shoon.
Leaves on the trees turn bronze and bold,
Watching Lake Balaton grow cold…

Once dressed in blue, the waters fade to gray,
Yet wore each color with style in its day.
Many brought their weary cares to rest
On its shores, finding peace on its gentle breast.

No children scuffle, no chatter, no sandcastles rise,
The last one has fallen, dust settled where it lies.
Just a fragment remains of their play…

The food stalls that once cooked delights,
Now closed, ask, “When will we reignite?”
I taste the ice cream still sweet on my lips,
But its flavor now lost, as sorrow dips.

Gone are the sunbathers wrapped in their towels,
Couples, teens, grandmas, sweethearts, all fowls
Of summer’s past joys and shared embrace.

The trains don’t call their booming sound,
The holiday homes empty around,
Sailboats sink into the endless gray,
The boats less frequent on this Hungarian bay.

One boat here floats, rocking in the breeze,
Sometimes it knocks against the pier with ease,
Then floats gently back, as if in tease.

This small boat could be me, left all alone,
Moved by waves as my will is not my own.
I drift as this boat does, deserted, afloat,
Awaiting the spring to bring me to my hope.

I Miss You, My Love Poem #2

GaLambos Á. István: Need

We always need what isn’t near,
We always need a love to hold us here.

When we need love, like bread and wine,
It vanishes, gone in no time.

When we sense it’s drifted too far,
Our mind returns to it evermore.

If they look at you with love so dear,
Return it back without fear!

But we know, and that’s enough to say,
We only need what’s far away.
And all we need is their embrace today.

I Miss You, My Love Poem #3
GaLambos Á. István: Christmas Gift

Christmas is here, and my wish came true,
A toy car beneath the tree, shiny and new.

Christmas is here, my dreams appear,
Toy soldiers march on my bed so near.

Christmas is here, my request fulfilled,
A CD player, five discs thrilled.

But Christmas is here, yet my dreams turn gray,
I still have my toy car, but it’s lost along the way.

Christmas is here, yet my soldiers have gone,
I watched them march away long before dawn.

Christmas is here, yet my player’s sound has flown,
Its melodies have left, never to return home.

Christmas is here, do you feel the chill, too?
My car, my songs, my soldier crew— I miss you.

I Miss You, My Love Poem #4

A Living Dead Man
rises in his coffin, his voice would scream,
Though he hardly believes it could ever be seen.

Six feet thick, the earth keeps all sound out,
Above, peace hums—a blanket without doubt.
And like that buried man, your absence shouts in me.

Géza Röhrig

I Miss You, My Love Poem #5

The shadows stretch, the stars ignite,
Flames leap high in endless light,
And as if drawn by unseen might,
Your absence circles my soul’s quiet night.

Attila József

I Miss You, My Love Poem #6

Why so far, why so away?
With you, life would be a holiday.
I’m a sparrow, fallen and torn,
Without you here, so lost, so forlorn.

Magda Juhász

I Miss You, My Love Poem #7

My eyes search the world for you,
Only for you, my love so true!
And though they see a world’s expanse,
Your face escapes their hopeful glance.

I’d forego the sun, the sky, the light,
Just to see your face in my sight!

Petőfi Sándor
